I have heard from P. Manny, who is now with us at Gracepoint Berkeley, that the punsters such as Maurice and John Lin are just wannabes, and that he considers these puns to be so laughable that he forgot to laugh. That's why he wants to disassociate himself from these puns, because he's afraid that if he were to actually exercise his punning gifts, then it would completely show these poor imitations for what they really are.. Basically, he was saying that these puns are fakes, and that's why he's not going to participate in them. What do you think about that?
Like the return of the One True King to Gondor, we totally invite the kingpun, I mean kingpin, himself back to his rightful throne! We aren't personally invested in us being the local pundits, we just want to advance the cause of puns overall!
I know P. Manny is conflicted because while in public he says he really detests our puns, secretly he often pulls me aside and tells me puns of his own making, in a conspiratorial and confiding manner. So I know he does really, secretly like puns! Your post only confirms it!!
So like that scene in LOTR when Aragorn unveils his new 7' sword that Elrond refashioned for him, ready to take his place as King of Gondor, please tell P. Manny this: let 'er rip and "unleash your puntential!"
